This week I’m continuing my trip down Morris Avenue in Birmingham, Alabama during the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk. This set of images focuses more on city scenes, buildings, doorway, and windows.

There aren’t too many views of the city from Morris, since it is more of an old one way back alley than a major roadway. However, the beginning does offer a great view of the Wells Fargo building and later the old City Federal Building.

Most of the old have been changed to either clubs or law offices while others have recently been remodeled into lofts. Several older warehouses used to have their loading facing Morris Avenue.

These building offered an interesting appeal. I also stopped at another business whose owners were remodeling and photographed a stack of lumber.

Phil, These are the kind of pictures I enjoy. I particularly appreciate the depth of color (perhaps the correct term might be saturation) which makes the bricks and buildings just pop right out at you. I also tend to shoot similar subjects as these; rusty, old things, dilapidated buildings, textures, and doors or windows with faded paint. They just are especially compelling as subjects for some strange reason. Great job!
Thanks Stephen, I’m so glad that you let me know that you stopped by. I hope that it won’t be your last. I knew that Deb was a photographer, but I didn’t realize that you were interested in photography too. I’d love to see some of your work. Thanks again for the great comment.
Great series, Phillip. Im especially digging the textures your shot. “Pealing” and the last shot with the withered sign are my favs.
Thank you Jan. When I saw that paint pealing away I just had to stop. I’m glad that you like the sign too. I’m not very sure what it meant. I suspect that the road turning off of Morris used to be a much narrower alley that the road way is now.
Terrific images Phillip. I am with Jan. Those textures really rock.
I appreciate the encouragement Len.
Very very nice pictures!
I really appreciate it Victoria!
Some richly coloured images with very attractive textures, Phillip.
Thank you so much Andrew!
These images are quite lovely. In particular I like the close-ups, they have so vivid colours and strong compositions. And as others have pointed out the textures are compelling.
thank you so much Otto.
