When I was a lot younger, one of my favorite bands was The Electric Light Orchestra. I remember seeing the band from Birmingham, England when they visited Birmingham, Alabama in the seventies. ELO was a very unique group with a great sound.
Can you imagine how excited I was to hear that The Orchestra Part II was going to be playing at Disney’s EPCOT during our trip? You might ask, what is The Orchestra Part II? Well following Bev Bevan’s retirement at the end of 1999, Mik Kaminski, Louis Clark, Kelly Groucutt, Eric Troyer, Parthenon Huxley and recruit Gordon Townsend regrouped as The Orchestra or ELO Part II. Kelly Groucutt died of a heart attack in 2009.
So while everyone wanted to ride their favorite roller coaster, I mainly didn’t want to miss the show. My family got a few jokes in about the group coming out on the stage with the aid of their walkers.
I have to say that the musicians seemed fairly healthy. It was the audience that I noticed more. The kids that I remember from before had turned into their parents. I guess that this would go for me too. Wow, talk about feeling old! However, for a few minutes there I was that twenty year old again.
