Spinning

Fishing Lure

As an adult, I never have been a real avid fisherman. However, when I was a child my dad and I spent many an afternoon out on the lake fishing. We rarely if ever caught anything, but we spent a lot of quality time together drowning worms and loosing tackle.

I recently opened our old tackle box searching for something that might colorful and interesting to photograph. Inside I discovered this fishing lure. I took the lure a tied a fishing line to a brace and then using a thread I suspended the lure in the air. Shooting against a black background I used a couple of small lamps for lighting.  I then erased the thread and added some motion blur in processing.

    1. Thank you Len. It was a lot of fun, although it was a good thing that we didn’t depend on our catch for food. LOL

  1. I use to love going out with my father when I was young – Spurred a lifelong love of fishing that I have neglected for some time now. This reminds me to get the rod and reel cleaned up. 🙂

  2. Ah those memories of youth. The fishing lures do work well. They catch a lot of fishermen. 😉

  3. It’s a really fun picture and wonderfully lit. It comes out like a nice, warm lure for sure. I like the dark background, the warm tone, and the blur – as everybody else point out. Being one who likes going out fishing, and use exactly this kind of spin, for me it’s extra fun to see a picture like this.

    1. Thanks Otto! It looked like a fun thing to shoot. I saw a couple of guys returning from a lake today holding a couple of nice bass in their hands. It reminded me of how long it has been since I have gone fishing.
