An old building still waits for the next train to arrive, but like the people who once lived and worked here, the train too never stops any more in Robinson Switch, Alabama. Located on Robinson Switch Road just outside of Lowndesboro, Alabama, Robinson Switch is one of Alabama’s Ghost towns.
Very little information can be found about the old community. Today only the remains are a few buildings that stand as a testament to its forgotten history. Some guess that it once was a small town of sharecroppers. Apparently, the town began sometime after the Civil War and lasted until the mid-1900s. Then the people moved away and the Kudzu moved in.
On the trip somewhere outside of Autaugaville, I stopped and photographed this old sharecropper’s house.
