This past weekend I was playing with shooting still life.  I staged several shot of a candle, wine bottle, glass and a couple of flowers.  These were shot using a clip on light that I attached to a spare tripod and then positioned where needed.  I processed these pictures using Lightroom 3, and the family of Nik software plugins.

Both are great images but the candle is really exceptional Phillip

Thank you Len. I appreciate it.

Really lovely Phillip. I have to start playing with still lifes and lighting.

      Thank you Edith.

I would like to do more still life myself. I wish that I had better lights but there are just too many other things ahead of lights on my “Photography Equipment Bucket List ” that I may be using flashlights for a long time to come.

I’ve decided to give an old love seat to the thrift store in order to make room for a small table so I can have a better space to play with still life.

Great shots, Phillip. They look magazine ready. I like the first shot best, but both are really nice.

Thanks Jimi. The first is my favorite too. The second shot I was playing around with the shadow of the flowers.

Looks like a fun time playing with light and subject. I need to look into this Nik software that I am learning about through you, thanks.

It was fun Rob. I always learn something when I do something like this. Go over to Nik’s web site. They have free videos and webinars on theirs products. When you attend a webinar they’ll give you a discount on their software too.

Love the top image, it has a real painterly quality about it, and the way the orange of the flower pops against the rest of the scene is great.

Thank you Viveca. I really really appreciate the feedback.
