Sweet Peppers

This past weekend I decided to drop by the local grocery store and pick up some Sweet Peppers and Cherries to photograph. This week I’m going to focus on the peppers and I’ll save the cherries for another time.

I’ve written about my make shift studio before. I used the same set up to photograph these images. First I laid out several peppers on my chopping block.

I sliced one of the peppers, and then using a spray bottle, I sprayed the vegetables with water. I then started photographing them from several angles.

I celebrated my birthday this week and anytime you get new plugins as gifts it is always especially nice.  I had already been using Snap Art 3, but I was surprised by getting Fractalius too! So I had to play around with it.

This was a fun shot. I’m holding the knife with one hand and snapping the picture (by remote) with the other.

My wife collects old glass and this is especially dear to her. It is a Depression glass platter that belonged to her grandmother. My life and limbs were threatened should anything have happened to this piece.  I’m glad to report that both the platter and myself made it through the evening without indecent.

I would love to hear any tips that you might like to share about photographing still life.

Nice images Phillip. I especially like the Fractalius one. Wish they made that for the Mac.

Thanks Len! Maybe they’ll go after that market before too long.

Wow! I almost fell down when I saw the Fractalius one. I didn’t expect it. Very nice. The bold vibrant colors really draw you into these images-great series!

Great food photography. I’ve never tried it but I like your tip of using the spray bottle to make it look more appealing.
